Poly, negative air, and a real barrier — not a zipper on a bedroom door as theater.
Remove
Cut wet drywall and insulation. Bag it. No sanding spores into the HVAC.
Clean
HEPA and antimicrobial on remaining structural members that can be saved.
Verify
Moisture at goal before anyone closes the wall. Photos for the file.
When water damage becomes a mold job
If the loss is older than two days, if you can smell it, or if you already see staining, assume we will inspect for mold before we hang new board. That is cheaper than opening the wall twice. Start with the water damage page if the leak is still active.
